Mission Statement:
Teens For Equity strives to cultivate a sense of belonging by promoting environments that are loving, friendly, fair, inclusive, and diverse. Our vision is to make equity, inclusion, and diversity and to close the gap between races and ethnicities.
Who We Are?
Teens For Equity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded to empower multicultural and dual language learning children and their families. We transform lives through mentoring and coaching, teaching equity and inclusion, focusing on their mental health, tutoring in multiple languages, and giving financial support.
How We Started
Our idea was to start Teens For Equity and to help multicultural and dual-language children. This idea came to us when the pandemic first hit us. We realized that many children began to struggle with depression and mental health. I then united with my peers who had the same mindset and goal as myself to form Teens For Equity. We focus on supporting and showing children that they belong, especially those of ethnic and minority descent.
JJ Maroufkani- Founder
Hi! ¡Hola! Salaam! I am JJ Maroufkani and I am the founder and president of Teens For Equity. I am the grandson of Mexican and Hispanic immigrants and a son of a refugee father. I want to work and contribute to improve the disadvantages, racism, and prejudice in historically marginalized communities. This includes children like myself, who come from multicultural and multi-language families. I want to give back to my community; I want everybody to feel accepted and I want the world to be a place where all cultures can work together. We look forward to helping you and your families! We can do it together! ¡Si se puede! Mitunim bokonim!
